There are some great restaurants on some cruise ships. One of the best steaks I have had came on a cruise ship.
Its def not buffet only.. At no point are you ever forced to go to a buffet. At lunch and breakfast you always have the choice of a sit down meal in the dining room.
What I like:
You can see many different countries on one trip. I would have never known to go to Roatan if I didnt go first on a cruise.
You have a nice sit down meal every night and generally a couple of formal nights. I know my wife likes getting dressed up and taking all the pictures to be able to take home and frame.
I sleep like a baby on a cruise ship with the slight rocking. You generally have bars, clubs and a casino just a few floors away and a show to see each night. The service is impecable. On pretty much all lines. You are waited on hand and foot on pretty much everything. No stressing out on getting somewhere or getting stuck in traffic etc.
that go out of Mobile and Nola
Generally NOLA and especially Mobile get the worst ready for retirement cruise ships around. If its not a 7 day cruise and isnt going to Alaska or out of FL its generally going to be a booze cruise. 7 day cruises are night and day different even on Carnival than the short cruises. Disney is about the only line worth taking a non 7 day cruise on. Most of the negative comments people make come from those on short cruises.
