What are some things to do/take when you first start getting sick??

I don't get sick very often, but when I do it's bad.
Everyone I know has been getting the flu or really sick the last week or two. Just this evening I am starting to get that feel bro.
Lymph nodes swelling up in neck. Whole body is very tingly and sensitive. Starting to get cold sweats. Feel tired already.
Hopefully it's nothing, and I'll be fine when I wake up in the morning. Any medicines I should buy, or home remedies y'all swear by?
I don't usually take medicine (have only ibueprofen at the house currently), but I'm willing to hear someone out cause I have an important week coming up and can't afford to get sick right now.
Vitamin C?
Apple cider vinegar?
Lots of water and rest, I know.

Vitamin C pills immediately. As soon as I start feeling it coming on, I take a few vitamins before bed and in the morning and it usually goes away.

No, I just want to see if you'll try it. Hell, it could work. I don't know.

I haven't found any miracle substance that does anything at all to lessen or cure a cold. If I feel one coming on, I just go and get some meds to control symptoms at night and during the day. also pick up something that is tolerable to eat with a sore throat in case I get one (i.e. make a big pot of chicken noodle soup, etc.).

Take suppositories. Lots of them.

Go to sleep with a pair of damp socks on, then a pair of dry socks on top of them. Thank me later.

I don't see a problem here. Enjoy the ride.
