Yep. Its the last time I try to take my kayak out of the water and not tie my dog to the trailer hitch. She pulled, I slipped, and all of us fell into the water after landing on my arse and get smacked with a yak.

You know that really bad thing that seems impossible but you think it's going to happen? It's totally going to happen.

No, one is just less shitty, imo.

That's why you don't just go to a psychiatrist. They prescribe the pills.

Psychologists and therapists usually involve more cognitive therapy.

Exercise

Exercise

These. I'd also recommend 20 to 30 minutes of meditation or prayer. Just actual time to sit with your thoughts. A lot of times anxious people think about everything without thinking about anything.

Breathing is mentioned.

In middle of anxiety peak or a full blown panic attack I can guarantee you're doing one of two things. Hyperventilating or holding your breath.

Slow.... Deep.... Breaths.

5 seconds in. 5 seconds hold. 5 seconds out. Works every time.

I have been on that stuff. I got fat, lazy, and had no sex drive.
the labido definitely takes a step back on SSRI's, but becoming fat and lazy is probably because you are just fat and lazy.

I had anxiety issues for a while and lexapro did wonders for me. oh and I started exercising after taking it and lost weight. So your theory is dumb.

Anxiety and depression are closely linked. Some doctors think of them as 2 sides of the same coin. Depression in men is often manifested in irritability, impatience and frustration - as opposed to sadness. Insomnia, inability to concentrate, increase in drinking/substance abuse are also signs.

Go to the doctor. I had depression/anxiety for a good part of my life and didn't realize it. I just thought that's the way I was....kind of a dick. I still have it, but it's better.

Meditation and exercise are often effective at reducing these symptoms...anything to focus on the present is good - also wearing yourself out through any exercise, but you should go to the doctor regardless.

I swim 3/4 mile about 3 times a week. The more I exercise, the tireder I am, the better I sleep, the better I feel.

Don't waste your time taking Xanax pills.

Crush them up and snort them instead.

Xanax

Xanax, ativan, etc. are nice but also highly addictive. Be careful with these....Of course you're snorting them so....you should be fine.

But you are also saying medication isn't the way to go whenever it's reshaped millions of lives around the world. So don't call me the dumb one. Its reported 1 in 10 Americans take SSRI's btw.

And I'd rather have a lower sex drive and function to the best of my abilities and live comfortably than to have a bigger sex drive and fee like shite all the time.

There are gains and losses in everything you do, but taking SSRI's, even if just for a couple years can really help someone out without an addiction happening.

When it was prescribed to me years ago, that's what happened. I gained weight, didn't really have an interest in anything, and had low sex drive. I talked to my doctor and he told me it was common. So, I don't really care what you say.

Thats fair Sabi, anything you put in your body affects each and everyone differently.

Just like all the posts I see about people saying to smoke weed for anxiety. Weed actually gives me more anxiety. It didnt back in highschool/early college. But Its cool if it helps you, im all for that.
