21. Anything less is trashy as frick and against the law.

...don't be 'that' parent. Sounds like you're the one that needs to grow up fwiw. Not the kid.

InB4 all the judgemental OT'ers who don't even have kids.

I would rather them learn about having a few beers at the house or camp than out driving around. Kids will drink. Control the circumstances.

My parents let me and my buds drink at the house at 15. Back then the drinking age was 18 and the driving age was 15.

So glad I wasn't born in the 80's or 90's. That's when the pussification of America began.

They'll smoke pot too. Let them do that? They'll speed too. Make sure they do it with you in the car. Don't forget to let the girls sleep over and let them lock the doors. They need privacy. Cuz they'll do it anyway right?

Yeah. Since when is sneaking around doing something that even well adjusted adults do with no guidance or supervision better than not feeling ashamed or able to talk about it.

I'd rather my kids feel that they really can talk with me about anything.

His friends won't drink at my house till they're 21 or their parents are with them. They can decide within reason. My son can drink when I think he's ready.

The law allows parents to give their kids drinks.

When they are 21. He is going to experience the thrill of finally getting that bottle of T-dub (T.W. Samuels) from your older cousin and sneaking it out to a camp out with some friends.

I would derive my respect as a parent from my children by being a buddy and being cool in their eyes.

So, as soon as show an interest.

That's what age my parents felt comfortable with me and my friends drinking.

You would accept the consequences from the law of providing minors alcohol and supervising them while they drink just so you come off as the "responsble, yet cool" parent? How about you actually be responsible and sit down with your child and explain to them that there is a time and a place for everything, it's called college.

Dad let me start at 17. He knew I was partying in HS and shite anyways so he'd let my friends come over since he could control how much and what we drank. Plus my parents liked to have a good time, so I was around it a lot.
