This could become a serious humanitarian problem but I haven't heard anyone talking about. Trucks can't get in to deliver food, and you've got 6 million people there.

I remember the news showing people complaining about the food portions the Red Cross was handing out after the Denham/BR flood.

We have to accept that even in our first world lives that horrible suffering happens sometimes and cant be addressed

Well you have to scratch the surface to start.

If you feed even 100 people, that's 100 people that aren't starving that night.

It's gonna take a lot of people doing whatever they can, and helping their fellow man. And it's gonna be a lot of rumbling bellies. But I have faith that we can come together as Americans and help out our fellow brothers and sisters in their time of direst need.

As long as people have water people will be fine. Going 3-4 days without food isn't going to kill you.

A lot of people don't realize that MREs have very high caloric density. The purpose is to make them compact and still nutritionally adequate so soldiers don't have to transport unnecessary weight.

a-hole response: Have you been to Houston? They could use a fast.

Real response: Between corporate efforts and charity, the best in communities comes out in a time of disaster. They'll be fine. Long lines, but fine.

That's just it. It's supposed to STILL be raining by midweek. Those trucks won't be able to get in for a while. Meanwhile, access to clean water, the pressing issue, starts becoming a REAL problem.
