We've discussed razors and shaving often. I own 17 razors.....?

My name is LSUAlum, and I got a problem.

Any of you begin "collecting" or hoarding old and new razors?

It's cheaper than watches or handguns.

Why isn't there a Nair like product suitable for facial hair? I hate shaving.

I honestly laugh at the losers on r/wicked_edge that post their ridiculous collections, but you are right. Plenty of colections are much more expensive.

Same here. I can kinda understand razor collecting, but I don't get the point of collecting brushes. The razors all shave differently, but brushes all do the same thing.

My step Dad's father used to have a massive collection of razors dating back to the Civil War. He had an entire room dedicated to them. Not sure what happened to them when he died.

They should be on ebay.

I've got 3 double edge safety razors, but I bought a half blade/single edge razor today (basically a straight razor using replaceable blades). At Christmas, my wife bought me 400 razor blades (a 16 year supply), but 300 were the half blade variety. Figured I'd buy a new razor so I could use them.

You know if you can shave with a Shavette, you can shave with a real straight.

I toy with the idea of buying the cheap Feather-branded plastic-handled butterfly for a travel razor and/or either a Merkur slant or Futur, but I always tell myself I spent enough on the 38c and that nothing is wrong enough about it to warrant switching.

I did recently just buy Bathouse Soaps branded cream from a boutique soapery with locations in Hot Springs, AR and in Natchitoches, LA. I now have 3 tubs of cream, one tube, and two hard soaps spanning 4 brands, so I am cutting myself of for the next 2 years it will take me to use it all. Or at least I am telling myself that.

I started a year and a half ago using good creams. My first tube of CO Bigelowe is almost gone. I got 2 other tubes and 3 tubs.

The attraction for me is that it takes something you have to do anyway, and makes it a hobby.

I'm not sure there's a better razor out there.

34 c IMO is the best.

Is at least one of the seventeen razors specifically for maintenance of you perineal hairs?

As I understand it, they're the same head and handle and only differ in length +/- balance. 38c can be used a short handle. 34c couldn't be used as a long handle, giving the 38 a very slight edge on versatility. In my research prior to my first DE razor, I read that the longer handle was "more familiar" to people used to cartridge shaving, so I went that route. I choke up so much that I really don't need any more handle than is on the 34c, though (at least I think. I've never held one).

I think at worst, they're tied in quality with the winner being the one you prefer stylistically.

But I could be totally wrong.

I use a kaiser blade, some folks call it a Slingblade, I call it a kaiser blade on those.

Sounds about right - I need to try a longer handle again, it has been a while... Single blade wet shaving has changed my shaving life for the past 8 years and I will never go back.
