First, your title blows. That comma needs to go.
Second, ole Potter Stewart said what?
Finally, you should be careful, because classism is called racism in 2017.
Otherwise, thanks for your "contribution." (do the air quote thing for full effect)

pretty much 3/4 of every latin american country is poor as shite
south america - beautiful countries and beautiful women everywhere, even the poor ones. the cities are very nice, but once you step outside a certain area it's like a bomb hit and they never rebuilt. high rise buildings are abandoned and squatters just move in, unsanitary water, clothes hanging off the sides of buildings. it was an eye opening experience first time i went down there. lots of fake asses in colombia, though, and that makes you look trashy no matter how much money you have.
but to them it's life, upward mobility is pretty much non existent unless you're blessed to be born with fair skin.
eastern europe - is much the same except they do have building codes and not very many abandoned buildings. also, very beautiful women walking around everywhere. they striked me at first as very stern, rigid, and slightly broken as a people which is due to much of the living population still having lived under communist rule. infrastructure is old, but safe and well taken care of. younger generations seem to be more vibrant, smile more, and have more of a zest for life. Hopefully they'll change the soviet architecture and get rid of most of that shite. probably the trashiest of the poor people, but goddamn i love trashy eastern european women, they all look like fricking porn stars.
north africa/iran/lebanon - perhaps the most culturally out of place i've ever felt. not to mention there's sand literally everywhere. but they are generous, polite, and enjoy meeting americans as much as anyone else. you have to be wary talking to women, though. you know which ones not to speak to because their heads are covered and they never make eye contact with men. that made me want to castrate every male there. i wasn't particularly fond of islam before i went, but it made me hate islam with a seething passion. but they are genuinely friendly, and again, beautiful, beautiful women.
next trip hopefully to southeast asia...
but to answer your question... no, the poor are not generally "trashy" in these countries. the poor are poor because they were born poor and there's no way around it. unlike here, many smart, intelligent hardworking people are poor, but no matter how hard they work they weren't born lucky enough to be upper class.

I'm not really sure what defines trashy, but it's like pornography, "you know it when you see it".
I see old pics from the depression and was thinking that those people were just poor, they weren't trashy. A homeless guy is poor, but he isn't neccessarily trashy.
I'm wondering what it's like in other cultures, is it the same here, the poor have to be gaudy?
In developing countries, no, that's not really the case. The poor are just way too poor to be anything resembling gaudy or trash, and 99 times out of 100, they're just trying to survive.
In developed countries, yes to hell yes, although it might be more of an Anglo-American thing more than anything. Lots and lots of trash in Britain, Australia, Canada, and South Africa. It's not exclusive to those regions of the world, though, although Japan didn't seem to have much, if any, of that.

Actually no. At least I didn't see it in Norway, Kuwait,Cayman Islands, or Sweden. I would say scandavian countries have least
I saw plenty of poor in Kuwait. Something like 2/3ds of the country are poor workers. Don't know those cultures well enough to tell if they were trashy. Most of the rich Kuwaitis are super trashy.

Yes. In every culture you have trashy people.
And yes, some will be poor.
Its been my experience in life that someone's "trash status" has little to nothing to do with wealth. In fact some of the most trashy people I've ever met were filthy rich and thought their money could hide the fact they were nothing but common trash.

New rich or inherited money. Most people I know who earned their way have a little class.

I agree. Although I've noticed some "old money" people seem to have failed to pass down to their kids a sense of class.
There seems to be a growing misconception that being well off automatically makes one exempt from being trashy.

That's because the kids have it all handed to them and never had to struggle. The live off the hard work of their parents

Plenty of Europe is trashy. Rome is super trashy, the canals in Venice are filled with trash, etc. As much as people love to complain, pollution isn't just an American problem
I also took this post super literal because of course there are homeless/poor every where

You are. I never said anything about old money.

Life expectancy GFTO!
Great grand dad made it farming and dies at 50.
Great grandad turns that inheritance into a nice oil holding and dies at 57.
Dad still living at 60 retired for 10 years, and will live another 20-30 years.
Dad gets free mansion and other assets at 45.....something I'll have to wait til 65+ to get...if the fricker hasn't wasted it all. ie $30k in hairplugs, month long vacations to Brazil, Spain, England, 5 cars, 2 marriages, etc.
Previous generations had the common courtesy to fricking die.

Geeze, dude. No need to get upset and defensive. Who said we cared? It was nothing more than an observation.

There are the working poor. The people who work their tails off for what little they have. They take pride in what they have. They take care of their possessions and homes. It may not be much, but they've earned what they got.
Then you have the government free-loading poor. They have the trashy houses. They don't care about taking care of anything because they didn't work for it.
That's as I see it, anyway.
