Been to one at the Old Gov's mansion. It was very nice but a little cramped. If you're having a huge wedding I would look elsewhere.

It's in MidCity, but don't throw out Boudreaux's.

My wife and I were married downtown over the summer, had our reception at the Hilton in the Heidelberg Room, (which is pretty much the entire 10th floor). The room is beautiful and holds about 220-250 people, the scenery from up there is great and the service was excellent (if you decide to go with them, talk Grace). They gave a discount for all the folks who booked and said they were there for the wedding and we had a free limo send-off (the guy basically drove us around downtown for 15-20 minutes while we waited for everyone to leave ;) ).

I can't recommend it enough.

Also had mine at Shaw.

Great time and easy people to work with. If the weather is nice, it really is a great view and a lot of fun.

I highly recommend the Shaw Center. Especially if you place a high value on a view of the river. Great atmosphere and beautiful building.
