We are all living in the past

It is metaphysically impossible to be instantly aware of an event. By the time our neurons fire and register the occurrence, it's already over by a few nanoseconds. We are deaf and blind to reality, and can only see it in the rear view mirror, so to speak.

But if we're all deaf and blind to reality, wouldn't we all be blindly living in the present? Only someone who isn't deaf and blind to reality would truly be living in the present leaving all of us normal people living in the past.

I am just finishing up the last season of Fringe. Although the last season or so has been lower quality, the first 3 seasons were on point with some of this metaphysical shite.
