My kid had this. The doctor filled a large syringe with warm water and flushed his ear out. Quick and easy fix.

If you make a lot of ear wax, time for the ENT. Nothing else will work. You need the little suction machine and saline rinse. Water gets trapped in the wax.
If swim ear doesn't work and you make a good bit of wax, it's the only answer.

Put hydrogen peroxide in your ear. It will bubble it right out. The water is trapped by a glob of earwax. Follow up by squirting warm water in your ear with an ear syringe.

You've got water trapped in your ear? Squirt some water in there.

This is just false.
If it indeed is wax then you can flush it out. I woke up with my ear clogged a couple of weeks ago. It was pretty bad, I couldn't hear shite for like 3 days.
Finally went and got this syringe deal at Walgreens made for clogged ears.
Dropped some hydrogen peroxide in my ear for a minute or so to loosen up the wax and shot warm water with the syringe. It took quite a few tries, and you really have to spray with some force, but it completely flushed everything out. I was pretty disgusted with how dirty my ear was.
It worked like a charm though.

mix apple vinegar and hydrogen peroxide. Let sit in ear at least five minutes. Then flush out with remaining solution.

Yep. I haven't been back to the doc since my first flushing. Just know that you can use a lot more pressure than you think with no harm. That's one thing the doc taught me was they shoot that shite up there with as much pressure as they can. Uncomfortable and somewhat painful.
Of course if you are unsure you can just go to the docs and let them do it/show you how its done. FYI, Cost me $70 for appointment $100 for cleaning and another $100 to come back and finish the cleaning because I was terribly clogged.

Solution for so many problems
Posted on 5/23/16 at 8:55 am to sandraccoon
Tilt head to side with ear up that contains water. Pour a cap full of rubbing alcohol in ear. Wait about 5 seconds, rotate head so ear with water is facing down.

Leave the alcohol in ear for at least a couple minutes, not just a few seconds.

Install a spigot on your ear. Make sure to use that white plastic tape that isn't really tape or it will leak when you don't want it to.

Do stick a Q-tip as far into your ear as you can.
I visit the ENT twice per year due to diving and I can tell you with 100% certainty that this is a terrible idea.

It's really not at all. The syringe I bought is specially made to shoot in your ear without damaging anything. It shoots out 3 holes in opposite directions, not straight in the ear. I was shooting the frick out of it straight in my ear and it wasn't painful at all.
I think the peroxide is key though, to help loosen it up.

I usually shook my head, or would lay down with the ear facing down for it to drain out.
They have things to get it out at the drugstore these days.
Don't let it sit too long, you'll get an infection.

No one has diagnosed him with AIDS yet?

If you go to the doc that's exactly what he's going to do. Go to Walgreen's and pick up a bottle of hydrogen peroxide and an ear syringe and you'll be good to go. You'll see a big blob of wax squirting out of your ear and you'll wonder how you were ever able to hear at all.
