Fog lights on when there is no fog has always been illegal for as long as I can remember. I never use them, but the wife always uses them.

I f'n hate that people drive all the time with the fog lights on and there is no fog! They get my brights everytime. I hope everybody that drives with them on without fog gets a ticket!

Why, they face the ground and the curb? They actually increase the field of view and, if factory installed, shouldn't affect oncoming drivers at all.

This may be the case. However, a great majority of them burn my retinas because they are so bright. If its not foggy....why do you need them? Turn'em off. Is it cool or something to have your fog lights on?

I wish there was a way to absorb that light and redirect it right back in their face so they would know how annoying it is to either be in front of them or driving facing them.

But like crawdaddy said at the top of the page, he pretty much just leaves them because he's a dick, and I'm pretty sure he's not alone. I hate it when the few ruin things for the many, but it appears that most people with them are trying to ruin it.

It's my regular lights that are higher after the lift. I like the way they shine but may point them down a bit. May, just depends how many more copmplain.

So now they are using DUI checkpoints to give any kind of tickets out that they want. Awesome. While the window is down at the next checkpoint I just assume throw out all of my rights as a US citizen out of it because basically that is what is happening here.

Exactly. First they get the country to buy into the fact they are doing something positive. Have everyone buy into it and then after it's established as acceptable they turn it to use to their advantage...rights be damned.

Of course.

We have waaaay too many LEOS.
They've got to do something to justify the salaries, OT, benefits, and retirements.

re: Watchout They are writing tickets for foglights now
ok so to end this thread, here also is the response from a deputy that I know when I asked him about this. His response was, "You can only have headlights, your yellow corner marker lights, and 2 auxiliary lights (fog or driving) on the front of the vehicle. The auxiliary lights can only operate when headlights are on low beam. And then there is height and width measurements they must meet too"

So, factory fog/driving lights are totally legal. It is non-factory auxiliary lights that are installed that are illegal to use on highways. Many states, if you have extra lights, require them to be covered at all times when on roads, or you can be ticketed

So I can have my low beams and fog lights on at night (even if there is no fog). Correct?

I'm thinking no but I don't have a statue book here in front of me. However, if you drive with fog lights on and it is not foggy its not that big of a deal. Maybe giving an officer probable cause to stop you and look for other issues. In the OP the guy got a citation at a checkpoint for it. Guy may have been be a huge dick to Leo and as a result he got a ticket for his troubles
