$50 a year

Obviously looking for a way to compete with Amazon's popular shipping service, Walmart is reported to be working on a three-day, unlimited shipping service that will cost consumers approximately $50 per year. This is half the price of Amazon Prime, but it's unclear if additional benefits will be included beyond free shipping on most orders. Scheduled to being testing this summer by invitation, the three-day shipping offer will be applied to more than one million products sold on Walmart.com.

For double the cost, I get my shite a day earlier, streaming movies and music, and the OT doesn't think I'm trashy. Sounds worth it to me.

I thought some competition would come, but thought it would come from google or eBay.

Amazon's 2-day shipping > Walmart's 3-day. Plus, it's Amazon; and Walmart. But $50 cheaper will probably lure some people.

Prime for life for me.

They can't compete with the innovation of Amazon. It's not just the shipping that attracts people. Walmart won't have an app as good as Amazon, won't have the selection, won't have the service, the hardware, down to that strip of Amazon tape on the box people are addicted to.

Eta: to clarify, I'm all for the competition. Amazon and Walmart are both companies that will turn this into a huge win for the consumer.

Well one is Amazon, which is awesome and the pinnacle of internet shopping, and the other is Wal-Mart, which sucks and is the hell on earth of retail shopping.

Their website is clunky, goofy, and hard to navigate, but their packaging and shipping is really horrible.

Amazon must be quaking in their boots. :

I'll admit to shopping at Walmart (mostly for household grocery-type stuff), but unlimited shipping isn't the only advantage to Amazon.

Plus the things I buy from Amazon aren't available from Walmart.

Amazon is like an online shopping mall with name-brand items; Walmart is just cheap shite.

The other problem Walmart will have is they have done such a good job of being a presence that not many people will choose to pay $50 to get Walmart stuff 3 days from now when they can just drive a half mile and get it now.

I wonder how a delivery service for the local walmart would do? Like same day service on in stock items. I would use it

Amazon subscribe items are limited. I think Walmart can have better selections.
