Under 45 minutes at those temperatures would be pretty uncomfortable but not life-threatening.

If you think otherwise, keep in mind the other big news item today - an entire city (with children too) in Iran was significantly hotter than that today.

About a month ago a cop left his k-9 in the patrol car and the k-9 died from the heat. Should be charged with killing a cop right (civilians get charged with the same if they kill a police k-9) Nope, chief investigated and no charges filed.

You say that, but there are a lot of stats out there to prove that this happens to people from all walks of life. I don't feel like searching for peer reviewed articles, but here is a page that talks about it: LINK

I forget where i put my keys damned near every day. My wallet every other day. sometime i walk back to the man cave to grab my cup and forget why the frick i went back there by the time i get down the hall. i have NEVER forgotten my child for even a second. Haven't even started to walk in and thought OH shite and had to turn around and go get him.

Just admit that anyone who does this is a useless POS and stop trying to defend your trashy relatives.

Not everyone. There can be legit mistakes. I remember reading about one guy that never brought his child to daycare. One day the wife got sick and it was his duty for the first time ever. Dude went to work and totally forgot that his kid was in the car. When you do the same thing 5 mornings per week for years, it can happen. No doubt that most of these people are tards/turds, but mistakes happen. I highly doubt that the woman in the OP made a mistake, though.

bullshite. If not, then fine. Your anecdotal evidence does not mean that it can't happen to someone else.

Look up the research because it is there. It sucks, but it does happen.

Did you even read the link I posted?

It's messed up that she did that, but it's also really messed up to tell her that the child was dead if they knew that was false. She's definitely a shite head, but she was clearly destroyed when they told her. fricked up all around.

Cops love when emotional people make sudden movements in their direction.

She's upset her little ploy didn't work out as planned. Maybe next time it will. Hope she spends time in a hot jail cell.

It's sad that a baby lasted longer in a hot car than the honey badger.

Happened to a young family in my neighborhood. Terrible accident. The OP lady looked a little suspect though.

Eta: I didn't know they told her the kid was dead. That's kind of fricked up.

After all the outrage and attention this has gotten over the last couple of years, I simply cannot understand how anyone leaves their child or pet in a vehicle anymore.

My first will be here in Sept. I can be incredibly forgetful, especially when distracted. For 28.5 years I haven't had to be responsible for a baby. I am terrified I am going to forget about him one day. Which hopefully means I won't.

Maybe it's just me, but when my kids were little and they would be in the car seat in the back seat, I would be looking in my rear view mirror every couple minutes or so to see what they were doing. I was always aware that they were with me.

I think at the beginning, the older daughter asks, "is she dead?" and the cop comes back with, "no, she's not." So there's no case for intentional emotional abuse.

This POS knows the baby's alive and then walks-- it literally felt like she was in slow motion, but I don't know, maybe that's how slowly fat people walk-- to her injured child.

I could possibly see being horrified and afraid and sick of knowing you're about to see your dead child and maybe being in shock and walking. But your child who's alive and hurt? F that noise, I'm no runner but I'm about to Usain Bolt it to my baby.

There's more to this story.

Harder nowadays with more rear facing seats, being used for longer. At that age, they still fall asleep in the car easily. Double mirrors help.

To the forgetful guy expecting his first-- I worried about it too, but you get used to them being there pretty quick. :)

Like another poster said, if you even think you might you've got to leave something important back there with them. Left shoe if you don't carry a work bag or purse. Can't just be diaper bag bc you'll forget that if you forget the kid.
