That's typically how it's stored, if you've ever been to Sugar mill it's the same thing giant warehouses filled floor to roof with unrefined sugar. What's even better is the usually use caterpillar frontend loaders and dumptrucks to move it

I'm pretty amused that the Morton Salt building is just a building full of salt, and I don't know why.

It is kind of funny. The salt spilling out of the building seems like something a child would visualize if they heard a salt factory wall collapsed.
Maybe they stopped making salt 20 years ago and just fill and ship when they need to.
