I am in the same boat. I am returning mine because the deal is great and there is still too much uncertainty around the fix, at least for me. I wish VW paid a fine and the cars stayed on the road. I liked getting 45 mpg on a tank (Passat). I could drive from BR to Orlando or Jacksonville on one tank. After the fix it will get significantly less mileage.

The buy back is too good. Plus along with we are in the market for new vehicles anyway.

Would have went with another TDi but no more VW diesels in America.

We have until the end of 2018 to make a decision on the buyback...why rush into it? I'm going to hang onto the 45mpg for the next 23 months at least.

Yea I'm running mine as-is till the deadline gets close.

I AVERAGE 48-52 mpg on my daily commute. The buyback deal is spectacular but I can't get anything to replace that kind of fuel economy and range in a car that doesn't suck to drive.

They are waiting to be put on a truck. The people who like better mpg will gladly take them

You will not be able to keep them as is eventually. Either get the "fix" which will guarantee reduced mileage, or take the buyback. You are going to have issues registering/renewing registration otherwise.

Did ours two weeks ago. Messed up part is that VW cannot sell them to other countries with relaxed emission standards. Part of the deal with the government I guess. They have to retrofit all of them or strip down for parts. At least that's what the buyback rep said. In any event I don't care. I got back nearly what I paid for it and the car was 5 years old

Why wouldn't you keep it until the last minute? They are good cars, comfortable, get really good mpg, etc
