The Mall is one of the spots I want to hit. Smithsonians and a little shopping at DCUSA. Maybe the museum of unnatural history.

If you want a variety of things to see in a museum go check out the newseum. It's not part of the smithsonian so it has a fee to get in but it has a very cool collection of things from modern era headlines. I've spent a couple days in there and not felt like I've seen it all.

Also, changing of the guard at Arlington national cemetery is a must
