Wise decision of the captain to go through that? Pretty sure the forecast didn't look good and they should have known.

NOAA's Ocean Prediction Center issued its first alert Friday at 1 p.m. that predicted "developing hurricane-force winds" Sunday, according to NOAA spokeswoman Susan Buchanan. Royal Caribbean said in its statement that the wind speeds that Anthem experienced Sunday were "higher than what was forecast" for the area.

The first official warning product was included in the offshore waters forecast at 3:34 p.m. Saturday, Buchanan said. It included a warning for hurricane-force winds increasing to 63 to 75 mph, in effect through Sunday night

Seems like they were warned but went anyway, and then follow up with

nothing but the finest luxury for the cruise-crowd right? probably didn't want to spend the extra money on fuel to go around the storm.

ENJOY THE BUFFET!!!!!

lol no. by definition, the vessel is seaworthy but i wouldnt consider what they did to be safe. general cargo ship captains will wait it out or go around something like that. this ship is carrying the most precious cargo you can carry and they willingly go into a storm that they were warned would have 70 knot winds.

Anthem of the Seas is one of the most technologically advanced cruise ships ever built. We aren't talking about the Carnival Elation here.

That is what I thought. It also seems a cruise line would have the strictest guidelines for that type of weather considering the liability.
