The 49-year-old victim, Milton Hall, was killed by the officers in Saginaw in 2012. The shooting aroused a local outcry and a federal investigation two years ago. The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) that released the video on Monday presented a testimony about the police shooting. The video shows that eight police officers ringing the man in a parking lot with one dog growling at the poor man. Hall was not carrying any weapons except for a penknife. He was then shot by the officers 45 times and 14 of those shots struck him dead.

And why did they shoot him? He was pretty much just standing in the same spot

that was basically a line em up and shoot em situation. May as well have just tied him to a pole and executed him.

It's always been my own personal mantra that if a cop were to ever point a gun at me and tell me to do something - I'd do that. Eight of them? Probably wouldn't make too many sudden movements with a weapon in my hand.

Just saying.

that is another side of the argument but evidently you have all of your brain cells functioning, much like the rest of us here but.

Are we just executing mentally disabled people now?

I think they said he was just holding a penknife

Even if he's holding a 3 ft sword I'm not sure it requires that amount of force

I'm assuming this guy probably had some severe mental issues and/or was likely on serious drugs

What if its not a cop? Sometimes the only thing separating these guys from criminals is they have a badge.

That's an execution, plain and simple. Sad - those cops should no longer be allowed to be cops at a minimum...... Usually there's some 'context' to these things that's missing, but I don't care what that guy did before he was surrounded like that, there's no reason he should be dead. Surely one of those cops had a tazer.....

Or why didnt they just let the dog go to work and subdue the guy and they could cuff him then? There is many other ways to go about this. They picked the one that let them fire off their shiny toys. Plain and simple

i'm going to have to 100% agree with you here.
I don't care if he had just killed a cop before he was surrounded like that. Not one damn bullet should have been fired.

Ah, didn't read the bit that he was mental. Did none of the eight cops standing there think about the tazer option?

I generally try to be the middle ground voice in these situations but that one is pretty bad. The real hang up I have is the amount of time that passed. When things happen in two seconds and they slow them down on video it isn't fair to the people that were there on the ground. That isn't the case here.

Best solution frankly, would have been for a couple of guys to get in their patrol cars and corral the dude until they could get a less lethal shotgun or pepper ball gun out there. There was zero need for all eight of them to line up like that.

If for no other reason than that they should have been cognizant of how it looked. And it looked like shite.
