Local news seems the only one breaking this. Looks like one of the jets went down south of the Colorado Springs Airport following their performance for the USAF Academy graduation ceremony. Obama was the speaker here, so, Thanks Obama.

Pilot is reportedly safe as he ejected, but no confirmations of ground injuries.

US Navy Blue Angel crashed in Tennessee during practice leading up to an airshow near Nashville this weekend. LifeFlight dispatched to scene which is never a good sign.

Controlled landing in a field, plane mostly still intact.

Controlled landing

wouldn't exactly term it controlled if he had to punch but that's pretty impressive, curious to hear the details

Engine failure is the initial word.

Good to hear. Would have been a roughly $20MM graduation if it was a total loss. I'd imagine that would rank pretty high on the list of costly disasters at graduation ceremonies.

How the heck does that happen post-ejection?

I'm no pilot, by my guess would be that the pilot glided it as low as he could to make the plane hit as softly as possible before ejecting?

The same way a paper airplane lands gracefully with no pilot.

What are the odds of a Blue Angel accident and a Thunderbird accident on the same day!?!
