That being said, police chases should be highly regulated. Outside of a violent felon, it should be avoided. More than 2400 bystanders and 2600 passengers have died in police chases since 1979, roughly 150 per year, and estimates are that more than 3500 innocent people are injured per year in police chases. That is insane. I'm not suggesting it is the fault of the police, but a chase that kills a bystander due to an burnt taillight isn't worth it. Get the license plate and make/model and call it a day.

It's 2016, and the media is pushing the agenda of forcing cops to not chase criminals over certain crimes?

This country is sliding into the shitter, and the media is lubricating the slide.

I may be reading this wrong, but chases should be limited to a very select set of circumstances. The risk/reward to the public simply isn't there for most of these chases.

It's becoming apparent to me that minorities across the country are being led to believe that they can do no wrong because they are owed that right.

Two black teenagers were sitting next to me at the movies last night. Talked and laughed from the second the movie started until the second it ended. It was a packed theatre and nobody said a word. Why would they when anything said would be racist and start a scene?

It's sad that it is becoming more common and acceptable in this country to bring everyone else down to your level instead of trying to better yourself. That goes for all races.

More white people are killed by police than black people, however; based on percentage, blacks are killed at a higher rate.

If you look back on wars.. The more brutal wars (or battles) involved two different races. Anytime whites and Asians fought, it would be a lot more brutal than if it were two nations that were the same race.

In general, people identify more with others who look like them. So I do think there is something to the police shootings, however; that's not factoring in how many of these killings involved a black police officer. Also, since the majority of blacks live in poverty and people who live in poverty are usually less educated and more involved in crime, that probably plays a bigger factor.

But just because the majority of blacks live in poverty, doesn't mean all blacks are "thugs", however; people will respond to a situation based on experience. If you interact with a certain group of people only in specific situations (whether that group be white people, black people, police, transexuals, etc) and that group is more likely to act a certain way, when that person does interact with that group, then they are more likely to expect them to act a certain way.

In reality, that's just the way it is, but I think people on all sides of the situations need to do their part in making things better.

Obvious solution is obvious.

290 to Headquarters- in pursuit of a black Mercedes.

290 - what race is the driver?

Black.

Terminate Pursuit!

And they're 1000 times less likely to appear in the Indianapolis 500. Coincidence? I think not.

Guess the answer is obvious...quit enforcing all and any laws on the books. Everyone can do anything!

In fairness, those are basically 3 victimless crimes.

The idea that weed and seat belts are laws is absurd.

This is what happens when there's no father figure to teach a young man how to donate money to the District Attorney's re-election campaign.

In my experience, black people are worse than average drivers.
They also are statistically more likely to be involved in and be an innocent bystander of the kinds of activities that lead to police chase.
So this study serves as confirmation bias for me.

I'm sure some people will see it as racist.

The word "rascist" has no meaning anymore. Way too much crying wolf.
