We shouldn't spend one penny or lift one finger to help that dipshit. You want to visit Pyongyang or Tehran? Go ahead, but you're not going to be used as a bargaining chip.

Is it weird that I would want to visit Pyongyang? You gotta admit it would be interesting to visit a country that is as close to a 1984 society.

This. Go to places like that at your own risk.
Unless he really was spying they'll let him go eventually. They don't want the bad PR if he dies in custody. And they can't let him see their gulag system because he's leaving eventually. So they basically have to put him up in a hotel and they're going to get tired of doing that.

Agreed.
But at one point in time I also wanted to visit Syria/the Levant to check out many of the historic places. The Maghreb in North Africa as well. But don't think I'll ever be able to (for safety reasons as well as the fact they're detonating all of the sites).

It would, but I would never visit under a US passport. They are hyper aware of visitors to begin with, Americans even more so.
