UPDATED - Tropical Storm Dorian thread - Looks like one to watch

Here's the info on Tropical Storm Dorian.

*Latest model runs are indicating a more southward direction, continuing on a westward to west-northwestward motion, missing the turn to the north*

60 MPH sustained winds, gusting to 70 MPH
WNW @ 20 MPH
Still forecast to remain a tropical storm.
Some models are beginning to point to a possible north-west movement toward days 6 and 7 but most models still point to this ending up in the Gulf of Mexico late next week. There will be a weakness in the atmosphere around days 6 and 7 that may pull it northward and away from the United States but that remains to be seen at this time.
Dorian will enter an unhealthy environment for tropical storms and hurricanes soon and that should keep its strength to a minimum. If it can survive this and get to the Bahamas still on a west or westnorthwestard track, it will enter the very warm water of the Gulf of Mexico, where it could potentially develop quickly.
This is still all about a week away so lots can and probably will change.
Still, keep an eye on it.
I'm going to start filling up and getting a few extra things at the grocery store on Tuesday or Wednesday of next week if it is still on this same path.

Yes.. Lets look at computer models 5+ days out. Might as well rely on a fortune cookie for powerball numbers.

Hurricane forecasting has gotten drastically better in the last 3-4 years. These models are going to be pretty accurate (as accurate as ever). Not saying they will be spot on, but for the most part, they'll be close.

We'll have to keep an eye on steering patterns. Usually, deviations in forecasting happens when the storm gets within 1-2 days of landfall.

Yes it has, but you can in no way even make an educated guess as to how this may affect the gulf coast(if at all) at this time is the point I think the guy was trying to make.
