The update is that the NOPD still has no idea whats going on. But hey, here's some good news, the lead detective is:

quote:

“extremely positive about where the case is headed.”

Lol

But a horrible story. Great guy, I knew the daughter pretty well in college.

Usually when an innocent upstanding citizen whitey is killed in NOLA, they catch the perp within a few days. This is about the only instance I can think of the last decade where a white guy's murder isnt solved.

Chambers is good at what he does, and is probably doing all he can with what he has. When the right person gets pinned down for a different murder and is ready to save his own life, that person will talk.

I was kinda surprised the reward never went above 25k.

Money talks and when rewards get high the perps family or buddies typically will end up snitching.

I grew up down the street from the Cucchiara family. I was high school basketball teammates with his son. Just a horrible story all around for that family.

I hope one day they will have some closure, but I think the poster above is right. Unfortunately, it will probably require someone rolling over on the perp to get leniency in an unrelated crime.

that event is what caused me to carry a gun on me at most times when working.
The empty areas are the ones that scare me, the active ghettos are pretty safe in the daytime. A lot of eyes watching and those eyes hate the thugs. Always an old timer out to keep an eye on things.

Places like the East and the ninth you can be at the only house on the block, and most of the "empty" houses aren't empty at all.

There is plenty of motive to kill developers/builders.

I had never heard of this story until now. I would think this is not some random act of violence. Even thugs have some type of motive for shooting someone. There is more to this story than this. Unless it was some kind of mistaken identity I just have a hard time believing it was random

When people refer to a "random act of violence," they aren't talking about killing just to kill. It's typically a robbery/shooting of a person the perp didn't know.

It's not random just because they don't know the perp. Random would be no motive at all. If I hire a hitman to kill someone that's not a random act of violence

No. There are very, very few crimes without motive. Random is, in most circumstances of that phrase's use, referring to a random victim.

ETA: your hit man example would not be a "random" act of violence, because he's going after an identified target.

This shouldn't be this hard.

I know that's what I said . You said it's random because they don't know the perp which is not true hints my example.

You said there was no motive.

In this case, if a junkie saw a white guy in a nice looking truck and decided to rob and kill him for the few hundred bucks in his wallet, it's a random act of violence. The motive is robbery or opportunity.

Same thing with the double 30 in Metairie a month ago. There's definitely a motive, but it's a random act of violence.

The reason I say it's not random is because nowhere does it say he was robbed. He was shot one time in the head and that's it. Sounds fishy
