She'll be one for the southeast coast of the United States to watch. The door for it to end up in the Gulf is not closed yet, but it's not likely at this point. Of course, that can change.
seriously dude? Give it a rest until the thing gets in this hemisphere.

I don't get this. Why did you click on the thread if you don't want to talk about hurricanes or future hurricanes? There is SOME interesting information in these threads that I actually enjoy reading?
A thread to discuss the potential development and projected path of a storm doesn't mean that we're in here hoping for a Cat 5 storm in the gulf.

Shall I shed light on why this statement is the dumbest fricking statement in all of frick or does anyone else want to take the reigns?

I take issue with this because the OP is already proclaiming this "is the one to watch". He said the same shite about the storm that just died in the Caribbean. How bout we just wait and see where its going? Then you can start sounding alarms and hoping for all the destruction to happen. At this point, its all just conjecture and serves no purpose.

I said this is one to watch because this is one to watch. The southeast coast from Florida to the Carolinas are in serious jeopardy with this storm. It's not entirely out of question that it could end up in the Gulf with the way the ridge and steering currents are set up right now.

Ok, how about you just don't read the thread then until a storm gets into the gulf?

Last reply because this isn't going to get solved here without totally derailing the thread...
It doesn't sound like any alarms have been sounded. He simply said that this is one that the SE United States should watch. Is that not true? This storm could go anywhere from the gulf coast to North Carolina to out into the Atlantic. Or it could just die in the Caribbean like Danny has. Either way, what's the harm in stating that this one should be watched?
Personally, I will be watching because I have an interest in tracking these storms and learning as much as I can from the few "experts" that post here. Between the "why are you wishing for a hurricane" and the "OMG will this kill me during my BBQ on the beach in three weeks" posts, it can become difficult to actually discuss the storm.
I guess this storm/thread will be no different, unfortunately.

The southeast coast from Florida to the Carolinas are in serious jeopardy with this storm.
Sure, both the ECMWF and GFS are putting it in the Gulf, but both of them are having it torn to pieces over Hispaniola and entering the Gulf as a wave which gradually reintensifies. Models that have it taking the route north of the islands just hook it out to the Atlantic.
Sure, Erika is indeed a potential threat to the US... but you're definitely overplaying it at this point.

If I'm living along the coast from Florida to the Carolinas, especially the Carolinas, I'm considering this a serious threat. Look at the steering currents - if they keep up the way they're forecast to, someone along the southern half of the eastern coast is getting hit by it.

These threads are a mixture of reasonably smart hobbyists, narcissistic predictor-types, and people who are apparently angry at anyone who shows the slightest interest in development of tropical systems.

the 500 mb flow, if it's as advertised, is more than enough to keep this thing off the GA/SC/NC coast. It's almost due westerly at like 15-25 knots through most of the period. 700 mb winds look pretty similar, but a bit weaker.
the question is whether it goes far enough north to get caught up in that flow or if it stays south of it and gets into the Gulf. If that happens it's going to get torn apart by Hispaniola and Cuba, but it could come back together once it gets past Florida.
I don't know what you're looking at that makes this a serious threat to the southeast Atlantic coast at this point.

Nobody should frick with TDsNgumbo.....dude adequately predicted the tropical depression a week in advance before I left for Mexico.
Because of that post my buddy and I prepared for it and his wedding went off in Playa Mujeres without a hitch thanks to the greatest Message board weatherman ever.
