University Says "Meh" To Teaching All of American History

So apparently at Sacramento State University an anthropology course focusing on intersectionalism can take the place of good old History 101.
According to a dissenting professor, here is what is left out of the course.
I took plenty of anthropology courses in school, but I never thought they would take the place of a history course. Especially not, AMERICAN HISTORY.

As it stands, the anthropology class will reportedly focus on “the intersection of race, class, gender, ethnicity and sexuality; the political economy of institutions and ideas, such as racism, classism, sexual stereotyping, family, religion, state, color blindness, multiculturalism, etc.; and, discourses of cultural diversity in the U.S.”
According to a dissenting professor, here is what is left out of the course.

The new introductory “history” course leaves out, among other things, the Progressive Era, World War I, women’s suffrage, the Great Depression, FDR, the New Deal, World War II, McCarthyism, the Cold War, the Korean War, the nuclear arms race, the Cuban Missile Crisis, the JFK assassination, Freedom Summer, the United Farm Workers Union, the Vietnam War, Stonewall, Watergate, Second Wave Feminism, the Iranian hostage crisis, the fall of the Berlin Wall, the Gulf War, globalization, the 9/11 attacks, and the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.

So what in the hell are they teaching??

Race, gender, and sexuality are the only important issues in academia today. All courses should be geared to focus on these three topics.

What exactly is left to teach in a HIS 101 class? I can think of the revolutionary war/Declaration of Independence/Constitution signing and that's it. That takes about 2 weeks to cover.

Anyone taking said class is destined to be a barista for the rest of their lives

Should I make a thread bemoaning the fact the I was able to get my math credit out of the way via taking a what was essentially a class on how to build a website?
Aso, the vast majority of stuff in history 101 is shite kids should cover in high school. It's usually one of the easiest classes to get an A in.

Is American history really a necessary course for college? I can't think of a profession that would actually require a knowledge of American history to do the job directly.

I've started filling myself in as a minority on state forms. This is how I am "choosing to identify". Thanks for the tax write-off.

...reads like a college course.

I never took an American history course in college. I wanted to, but the choices to fulfill my history requirement conspicuously excluded American history. This was during the 1990s.

It appears that is is not replacing old fashion US History, but just a class that can take it's place, if a student's chooses. US History is still available for those who want it. Keyword CAN , not SHALL.
And this course would fulfill one "general history" requirement for a general studies degree. OP title and article title way misleading.

Ok that's a given, I thought about excluding this in post, but figured that was unnecessary, guess not. Anymore? Besides historian or teacher.

Yeah you're so cool, you called someone a dope! What you didn't do is name any profession it would be used in. There are very very very few. You just had to be "that guy" I guess.

Well, if you're a mindless robot in a conveyor belt type of job, sure, you don't need to know anything about this country.
We were intended to be a responsible, knowledgeable, intelligent people. You're killing your forefathers, baw.
