Louisiana Revised Statute 32:212 says drivers must yield the right of way to a pedestrian on a crosswalk when the pedestrian is halfway on the side of the road where a vehicle is approaching. The same statute also says no pedestrian will suddenly leave a curb to walk or run into the path of a vehicle when it is near impossible for the driver to yield.

Therefore, pedestrians do not have ROW 100% of the time.

It seems in Baton Rouge they do.

Right down the middle of the road.

With 4 or 5 cars behind them trying to get around.

This isn't Louisiana State. This is a regional commission.

Sales tax...which everyone pays. Property tax...which everyone pays.

Which taxes are you referring to?

Buddy Ellis is as it runs parallel to I-12 connecting Juban and the Walker exit. Forest Delatte, not so much.

What is so hard to get?? If you want a bike lane come up with the funding for it.

We need lights that are synced light years before a fricking bike lane is put in.

So spend the tax money that is put in by auto taxes on autos. If bike riders want more done for them then ante up.

I never said I want more. I don't mind sharing the road with motorists. Not to mention, there is nowhere to ride 40-50 miles on just bike lanes.

You guys just have to put up with us.

Buddy Ellis is in no way a highway or even a frontage road. Its not even striped.

The funding argument has been beat to death the past few years. The only valid argument I see against bicycle infrastructure is the safety argument, and that's really only a matter of design that can easily be overcome with engineering and public outreach.

Don't care about that..

This I take issue with as there are things that are far more important that should get the tax dollar first.

It's a bike lane to begin with. If you want a car lane, you come up with the funding for it.

Cars are in the way, not bikes.

I don't really care about bike lanes because generally they create just as many problems as not having a bike lane

most people, especially in the South, would just see them as on street parking

but rednecks can't have it both ways, you can't hate us being on the road and then bitch if a city decides to spend taxpayer money on bike lanes
