THAT'S a big ol' to SWB.

The worst part of this is that she the history and credibility to sit down with the people who feel aggrieved and explain things to them. They would listen to her. But she either doesn't understand due process or she is willingly choosing to ignore the process in order to rule them up. So basically, she is dumb and incompetent or a really evil person.

Those things are not necessarily mutually exclusive.

No they are within their rights to comment and they had a smart statement and now will let it play out.
At some point they will comment again but this will end up in litigation soon-beyond the state AG and they are smart enough to make a statement and shut up.
But end of the day, my opinion, Salomoni will take the fall. Blood is in the water whether anyone likes it or not.
And I hope I'm wrong .

I bet you they hate having to protect such a dumb bitch that hates them.
Don't know if it's all the time but I know she's been escorted by the constables office because no one with BRPD would pick up the detail

At the end of the day, Salamoni has iron clad legal protections that prevent him from being sacrificed by a political witch hunt

She has full BRPD protection and has since she was sworn in

I wouldn't say she is dumb, she knows what she is doing. She is playing a political game that will come back and bite her in the arse. Someone relatively young and energetic needs to run against her in 4 years. She is going to divide the city to the point she will lose people who supported her and piss off groups that will work hard to get her out of office.

It won't matter by then. Because whoever is mayor in 4 years will be governing a much smaller Baton Rouge. SWB's crap is all but making St. George a reality by then.

I tend to agree with this. She's hedging her bets that she'll gain enough political capital by playing Pontius Pilate.

I agree she burning her political career into the ground.
The officers have civil service protection and the mayors trying to go around it without due process.
It will end up costing the tax payers of the parish for the settlement we will have to pay these officers and she also lowered the BRPD morale.

Mayor Broome alread wants the Police Chief Fired, she has her agenda set and it means having these two officers fired and in jail. That will gain her reelection, forget if it is ruled justifiable, forget that Alton was a criminal, it is about a white man shooting a black man.
Seems here lately there have been more and more stories like this, where a small group of people are offended and speak loudly and get the changes they want. Which ends up being worse for a majority.

If Broome would just watch five episodes of Law and Order she could actually understand enough of the legal process to fake it.

As others have said, this doesn't matter to her. It's not her money. And it's not like she actually represents the true tax base of this city.

Or just sit in on a high school civics class for an hour

Oh I agree with that and I am not implying he is quilty but he will be tried ( in my opinion)and will have to defend his actions. I just see this playing that way. As I said blood is in the water and the Attorney General could quite possible see this different than the Dept of Justice.
But regardless of how it plays it is a legal and not political process and that black mayor needs to take a ride on her broom and allow the process to work. Time will tell.

He is protected under Civil Service.

I hope to God you're right, for the city's sake. I don't see BR ever having a young, progressive mayor though. Regardless of how much Broome screws things up, her voting base will support her regardless. It's what they do. They vote along racial lines, even if they don't have a clue what the candidate's platform is. You just have to hope that white voters in EBR Parish have learned their lesson, because white voter apathy helped contribute to Broome's victory.
It actually could've been much worse. Imagine a Baton Rouge governed by Broome and a majority black metro council. Now that's a scary thought. If that is what transpires in 4 years and I was a white resident of BR, I'd put my house up for sale ASAP.
