last night i was involved in a traffic stop by walker PD. in traffic, i accidentally turned my headlights off while attempting to signal another driver to pull in front of me into traffic. after only a few seconds, a police car darted out in front of me lights flashing...when i didnt stop in the middle of the road (i didnt know what the hell he was doing), he came up behind me to pull me over.

there was no shoulder to stop on (we were in bumper to bumper traffic), so i signaled for a turn and tried to get to a gas station a few dozen feet up the road. he ran up in front of me, swerved me to a stop, and then basically dragged me out of my truck, screaming the whole time with his hand on his holster

long story short he says i was fleeing the traffic stop, which initially was to pull me over for driving without headlights

he acted like a complete a-hole, scared the shite out of me, refused to listen to me, and eventually after 40 minutes and two more more cop cars (he had called for backup!) let me go with a ticket for no headlights

i just want the ticket dismissed and would prefer not to waste a day at traffic court. do i complain to walker PD?

I don't see you getting out of it. If you file a complaint it will only make things worse.

Unless you know someone in power in Walker they'll never dismiss this shite. It's almost impossible to get a ticket dismissed there

Doesn't hurt to file the complaint. Especially if the officer has a problem.

Worst case, he pulls you over again and is an arse. You win again.

That's your only hope.

And if so, your biggest problem.

IF it happened exactly as you say, go down to the front desk of the Police Department and request a Supervisor. Explain CALMLY how it went down and that you want to file an official written complaint. Resist the urge to raise your voice or wave your arms around no matter how stupid they act.

Be calm, polite and non-judgmental. Explain that you weren't treated professionally and that he laid hands on you (which is a big no-no in that situation).

Tell the supervisor you don't plan on letting this go and that you will follow up.

While you are in town, go ahead and pay the ticket because it definitely isn't going away once you file the complaint.

So why are you trying to get a ticket dismissed that you admit you are guilty of?

If everything you just mentioned in your post is true then you should absolutely report it. It's just a matter of time before that insecure frick shoots another black guy and starts all that dumb shite up again. it's a real shame that Louisiana pays its police officer so poorly that they can't attract qualified candidates.

Walker is one of the worst PD's around.
They cannot speak to someone in a civil manner.
They act like every traffic stop is a bank robber that just committed murder.

Unless you know someone there is nothing you can do.

Unfortunately this type of incident (although minor) is why police and the public have issues.

I've had a similar run in yet I literally did nothing wrong, the officer ignored me completely and acted like a complete arse unnecessarily.

I chalked it up to them having to deal with scum daily, so many of them default to treating everyone like scum. At least you didnt get a ticket.

thats exactly what happened
he acted like this was some high-speed car chase and i was actively trying to escape the traffic stop. it was so absurd and over the top i was speechless

You're asking for too much to throw out the ticket, you committed the infraction.

Filing a complaint though does sound fair based on his actions.
