Early flight in a week or so. Use Uber or cab it?
My understanding is Uber can take you to the airport if you live in Metairie. True or false?

Uber can and will take you anywhere you want to go, assuming that there is an available driver in your area.

From my house in Metairie, it's showing $13-$18 right now. That's definitely cheaper than a cab. Not sure how it would be for 4AM, but shouldn't be an issue I'd imagine.

Or can they take you to the airport but not pick you up from?

The problem you will have is finding a driver available at 4:30 am

Uber can bring you to the airport but you better have a backup plan in case they don't have a driver available at that time.

I got one from Harahan at 4:45AM two weeks ago to the airport.
There were a couple of cars up and running. I woke up and checked the two mornings before that to check and see if cars were out, and they were... you should be fine.

Check availability at 4:30 a.m. the week before your departure. That ought to give you a feel for availability at that hour. Uber doesn't take reservations as you know. You can check prices at the same time.

There are only 3 things that affect your cost. Duration of ride, distance driven, and what the surge pricing is if they are even on surge pricing. Surge pricing is really a function of number of drivers and rider demand (or proximity to a major event, like the AFC championship game). That could possibly be an issue at 430am, but who knows. It's probably a safe assumption that time of the morning will have the least amount of drivers working.

That is to New Orleans proper. To my house in Metaire, it's $45-$60. And the reason it is like that is because they will only let you select Uber Black or Uber Black SUV. That's pretty bullshite though.

Easy was to avoid it is to walk across the street to the gas station. You can request an Uber X from there.

From my house?

Uber's estimated fare ($13-$19) is cheaper than a cab.

How much less than $13 is a friend going to accept to get out of bed at 4am?
