Two people I've known have committed suicide in the past two weeks.

neither of them had connections to each other but both were young. I just don't get, they both seemed like very happy people. I guess we just don't see the full story all the time.

Right before the holidays too, just awful

Holiday season usually sees an uptick in these kind of things.

Albert Camus centered his worldview on his assertion that human beings only have 1 real choice - to commit suicide or not.

It happens a lot - if folks have strong family connections, they will often wait until the holidays pass to commit the act (if they are really dedicated) - other folks dealing with loneliness will sometimes do it in the middle of this period, as the holidays serve to reinforce their loneliness and isolation, as most around them will be having large holiday gatherings with their families.

It's been about a week since the last suicide discussion thread.

High time for a new one.

I hate to hear this...sorry for the families' grief. You'll get a bunch of macho bs in this thread. Hopefully the OT tough guys never have anyone close do it.

I don't think you're giving this place enough credit. I doubt anyone would be a big enough dick to shite on a thread about suicide.

ETA my bad, I skipped over this little gem
