Apparently they are having some problems processing applications right now. I applied for my card the day of my job interview because I felt very confident leaving the interview. It had been over a month and my card is still in the processing stage, which is the same stage it was in the day I applied. I was offered the job and am expected to start November 3rd.

Anyone have any knowledge of this or have had similar experiences? Could this cost me my job? I was told that I can't be officially hired and work until I get the card.

You don't have to have a TWIC, if your escort has one.
And your new company should be issuing you one anyway.

That's because the same people that run TWIC are the same people they employ in all government functions, like the DMV, the post office, TSA, and your obamacare types.

This is why its all fricked up.

It took about 2 months for mine to come in. If you keep your receipt, that's all that matters. I've gone offshore just providing the receipt. You can't control how long they take.

Latest News!

1) TWIC Processing Delays: TSA is aware that some transportation workers are experiencing delays obtaining their TWIC card. TSA recently conducted a major system upgrade, which resulted in some application processing delays. TSA is committed to working diligently to ensure that delays are minimized and that efficient processing of applications and card production is achieved. Applicants should expect TWIC application processing to take approximately 3 weeks, however, applications that require review by a TSA adjudicator may experience an additional 3 to 5 weeks for processing. Applicants are encouraged to enroll at least 6-8 weeks in advance of when your TWIC card is required. If you are experiencing a longer than usual processing time, you may continue to check your application status online here or via the UES Call Center at 1-855-DHS-UES1 (855-347-8371).

It may be different for me because I don't work offshore though. I just have to go every couple months or so.

Depends on the job.
Some of the refineries will not accept receipts.

And yes, it's a cluster fck right now and is taking people forever to get their cards.

Has anyone ever not gotten a TWIC?

It seems the only qual is to be able to fog a mirror.
