How many of you have had the experience of a full body search, along with luggage and electronics?
I experienced my first last week. And this comes from someone who travels weekly and has done so for the last 6 years.
My toiletries bag, the one that I have used for the last couple of years, triggered an alarm. The cause? The badge that is glued to the outside of the fabric - you know the manufacturer of the bag - set off an alarm, which then meant samples and more samples of interior lining of suitcase, briefcase, computers, phone, palms, etc. had to be taken.
The ironic part ... at least to me? This was all done by a middle eastern man named Yasmin who was not originally from the United States.

You have a problem with a citizen doing his job?

I use a ziplock for my toiletries and pull it out on xray line

Back when I would opt out of the old scanners they had, I'd end up getting the full baggage search as well.
Had a 12 pack of golf balls in my carry on trigger the X-ray once.

Had the pleasure years ago. I bought a set of HVAC gauges for my cousin and decided to bring them with me the next time I flew home instead of shipping them. Ended up being questioned, searched and all my stuff ran through special bomb sniffing machines while surrounded by a gaggle of officers.

I have a clear bag for my liquids, but put it inside a leather bag which also has comb, razor, toothbrush, etc. I just pull out the clear bag and place it in a tub before it all goes through the machine.

First check in 6 years??
You must look lilly white. Like Celtic white.

I've never had a full body search.
I have had my entire carryon unpacked and searched and swabbed before. It was a new carryon and apparently one of those little packets of the "stay-fresh" stuff was shoved into one of the pockets inside the suitcase. I had found three and removed them before I packed it, apparently there was a fourth.
Now just this past week, I flew out one day wearing a particular belt and pair of pants, and had no problem going through the scanner. The very next day, I fly home, wearing exact same belt and same type of pants (not the same pair but exact same color, manufacturer, cut, etc... I have multiple pairs of the same pants) and the scanner freaks out about my belt, so I end up having to take it off and getting the pat down.
It was different airports, but again, same damn belt.

I'm not sure this is necessary. I say this because I never pull out my toiletries bag. Never.
Doesn't matter if I have pre-check or not. Never pull it out.
Some might say you are supposed to ... and that may be the case, but I can speak with confidence that when traveling from New Orleans, Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, El Paso, Odessa, McAllen, Chicago, Portland, Denver and many other places, I haven't ever been asked to take it out.

Never purchased it but last few times I've flown, I've gotten it. When I flew this week, no dice.
There is potential for me to have to start flying more than the 3-4 times a year I currently do, and if that's the case, I'm going to go ahead and do the application thing.

Long story, but had to fly out to Arizona to get my son, who was in some trouble at the time.
Flew one way, as I was to drive his car back. One way tickets are a no no.

TSA Precheck is the best $85 you'll ever spend.

I never take my toiletries out either. Maybe once ever 10-15 times they'll catch it. And half of those times they let me go and tell me to make sure I remove it next time.
I've never had a full body scan or full luggage check in the 5+ years I've traveled frequently for work. I'll get checked in the spot the scanner marks, and a few times they've swabbed my hands and once my wallet when I forgot to take it out of my pocket, but that's it.

Paid this about a month ago.

This past Summer I went through security at Frankfurt no problem and was sitting at my gate waiting and reading off by myself when an armed German Polizei walks up and first says "Deutsch oder Engländer?" (German or Englishman?) I responded "English, bitte." He then directed me to a secondary security area where they frisked me and thoroughly (by hand) went through my carry-on and wallet's contents. I had to remove my shoes and they got all up inside of them.
The last guy who I was left with was cool once it was over. We talked while I was putting my stuff back together. He said they get more contraband with the secondary searches than with the first global search. It was much more thorough of a search to be sure. My Cubanos they did not care about seeing.

85 covers it for 5 years, right?
I probably should just do it anyway. How much of a PITA is it?
