What about the independent truckers that don't have short governed trucks?

I know I run 75-80 So that law would slow me down.

Been through stated with areas of the interstate with that law, most are 3 lanes and very seldom enforced.

Haven't got a ticket passing through one yet.

I am offended that local cops are called Tijuana Taxi 's. Couldn't the gear jamers have called us super cool dudes in city cars.
You have county mounty sound cool. City guys called Tijuana Taxis's that don't sound cool!

On the entrance ramp, there is a sign that directs the drivers to MERGE. That means it's their responsibility to get on the interstate (not some one else's to "let them in").

I appreciate people moving over to let me on, especially when there's a tight window. I try to do the same for others.

So some idiot trucker jacked up on coke or "west coast turnarounds" thinks he's in a Ferrari and can pass anything on the road? frick these morons - keep 'em in the right lane and 55 MPH for big rigs.

This is a big part of the problem. Correct me if I'm wrong, but most of the trucks holding up traffic in the left lane are speed governed to 70 or 75 mph. Can't speed up even if they want to.

I bet you'd be the first one cursing them when there's a line of them in the right lane and your trying to get on the interstate but they're not allowed to get over to let you in.

I hate being stuck in the left lane going the speed limit just as much as anyone but yall are morons if you think 18 wheelers should be stuck in the right lane behind grandpa or the mexicans towing vehicles back to the homeland

Nope. I'm a good enough driver to get on the interstate without assistance. I stand by my statement.

I agree to an extent. Sure there are some bad 18 wheeler drivers out there. I'd bet the vast majority of them would like to cruise at 70mph in the right lane their entire trip. Problem is dipshits in cars going 55-60mph are the real problem.

and the biggest issue with all of this is that interstate 10 and 12 in Louisiana should not be allowed to be 2 lanes at any point. They should be 3 lanes minimum from Texas to Mississippi.

early to mid 90s beater pickup trucks going 50 in a 65 imo

MF this! I'm fine with truckers. They are providing a service, are working, and have to deal with a-holes on the road all day. The asshats that tick me off are the people who won't move over to the right when they are going slow, which is usually a POS pick up with duct tape on it or a busted window.

if they are going fast enough, driving behind one can really save gas mileage

I get mad during my hour commute everyday about the terrible drivers in LA. Imagine if you had to do that 8+ hours everyday for a living. I would probably murder somebody on the road

Bumping this for perspective.

I started my own trucking business two years ago as a single o/o after retiring from active duty. Have 5 trucks now.

All the things truckers do that piss you off, piss me off, too. However, I will make a couple small points regarding one truck passing another truck slowly:

Many of the company trucks are governed, meaning they can only go so fast. When those trucks are limited to a certain speed, then they inevitably get clustered up into a mini-convoy on the highways and interstates. They're trying to get away from each other by either slowing down or passing one another and build separation because convoys are dangerous for them and for 4-wheelers.

So, if a truck governed to 68 comes up on a truck governed to 65-67, he's got one of two options: slow down, which impedes his timing and will eventually lead to a mini-convoy as other trucks approach from behind -OR- pass when it's safe and hopefully 4-wheelers will give him a little bit of time to complete the pass.

Also, many states have move-over laws for disabled vehicles, tow vehicles, and emergency vehicles. If there's a cop with his lights on ahead on the shoulder, I'm required to move over to the left lane if it's safe to do so. So many times, 4-wheelers fly around me, see the cop, jam on their brakes and look like retards. Chances are, there's a valid reason a truck is sitting in the left lane.

I'm not forgiving the a-hole truckers who decide to ride side-by-side with other truckers. That shite pisses me off. All it takes is one mistake, one good gust of wind (especially where I drive in Arizona/California) and we're touching metal. I'm also not forgiving the dicks who complete a pass, but sit in the left lane.

Here's pro-tips for 4-wheelers:

When merging on the interstate, check the traffic conditions and speed the frick up. I'm carrying 40 tons. I can't come to a stop so you can merge going 40 mph in a 65 zone. That said, most trucks will yield right of way to 4-wheelers even when merging onto interstates. Last thing any of us want to do is kill you.

When behind a truck, stay back so you can see my mirror. I know it's annoying, but do it. That's not for my safety, that's for your's. Your shitty Ford hatchback is no match for me. Actually saw this last month; a car was tailgating a UPS truck with doubles. Tire on the back trailer blew out. Car had no time to react, hit it and flew off the interstate. Bad wreck, but he survived. If he'd been back a bit, he could have easily avoided it.

Never, ever, ever pass a truck on the right. You're asking to be killed. Again, USUALLY there's a valid reason that truck is in the left lane. Show a tick of patience.

Believe me, most truckers do everything they can to stay out of your way. There's only so much we can do. Just stay away from us as best you can. Unfortunately because major truck companies are so cheap, they tend to hire anyone off the street so you're bound to come across a dolt with a CDL. Just get around him/her as quickly as possible and move on.

I don't have a problem with most truckers, but I do like messing with them. When they get in the fast lane to pass someone, I get up on their arse, so they can't see me. They know I'm there, though. When they get in the left lane, I stay behind them so thet still can't see me. I'll wait for a minute, switch lanes, and throw my hands up saying surprise!! I know it fricks with them.

That's the point of all of this. The trucker should have to slow down and bite his lip in the right lane. It's not worth the left lane stockpile he will create.

Your scenario creates convoys and effectively shuts down the interstate, especially if it's only 2 lanes, negating your complaint. We can live in a fairy tale world you envision or live in reality. There's no where you're going that's more important than your (and others') safety.

Just know there's a difference between a clown doing what you described and someone legit trying to get untangled from a mess of trucks.

Which feeds truckers into intentionally blocking you like OP complained. We have to deal with you; you have to deal with us. It sucks for everyone, but you're not going to 1v1 me when I'm hauling 40 tons. You might scare noob truckers. It's your life, man.

That's dumb. It would just cause a major pileup of Trucks in the right lane.

The "keep right except to pass" law needs to be more enforced.

And all interstates should be a minimum of 3 lanes. With truckers restricted to the far right and middle.
