Shocking that this comes out the same day that the Causeway Commission announces they are seeking to raise the toll for "Safety Improvements" (AKA more money to line their pockets).

Warning-old folks story!

Back in the day, there only used to be one span on the causeway and one lane was northbound, the other southbound. They made you turn on your headlights for safety. If you saw someone driving around the Northshore with their headlights on during the day, you knew that they were on the causeway earlier and you flashed your headlights at the other car to remind them to turn them off.

Walt's vehicle is would self-destruct if it even brushed a guardrail.

How can people suck that bad at driving?

I've blown two left-side tires at 70MPH and never left my lane. I've been rear-ended at 65 and never left my lane, much less hit a guardrail.

So because one random guy falls asleep we have to spend $50M?

Even funnier is that people are saying "it's old." Which tells me that 1. Someone is pushing it during the time they want the $ AND 2. (More importantly) they have to use an old video to make the point, If this is such a daily danger that they need $500 mill then why not show a video from last month?

I don't doubt the "rails are low", but they are only low b/c people drive lifted trucks and/or can't drive.

Simply paying attention behind the wheel will solve the issue.

Cars and trucks aren't flying off the bridge on a daily basis, yet the New Orleans Expressway Commission feels a burning need to issue contracts and "make improvements" when none are warranted.

FWIW, I was absolutely for the 1/10 markers because in foggy conditions that is a huge asset to everyone.

The ridiculous lighting and painting projects are another story, though.
