Troubleshooting a fridge

Ok; the freezer isn't as cold as it should be and stays at about 22 and the fridge is staying at about 50. The compressor is running and turns on and off with the thermostat. The freezer coils frost up and the defrost control is doing it's job and defrosting them.
Appliance guy tells me it's almost impossible that it is low on freon. Could the compressor be going bad and working but just not as efficiently as possible? Or is the compressor 100% good or 100% broken with no middle ground?
Help me out ot! I don't want to flip for a new fridge if I'm just a 20$ part away from cold food
This ones 7 years old.

As in put a clamp amp meter on it to see how many amps it's drawing?

Go up in the attic and make sure your drip pan isn't clogged, there is a kill switch when that pan gets full

THEN YOU BETTER GO CATCH IT

Aim center mass. Fridge should be blurry and front sight clear.

Waiting list is 2 weeks to get a guy here, if I can't fix it fast my wife will just want me to buy a new one. It's only 7 years old and the appliance guy (over the phone) said low freon is almost never a cause.

It really sounds like you need to clean the coils on the backside and use a blow dryer to defrost the coils inside the freezer section.
That should do the trick.
That should do the trick.

Did it first thing, they were really bad. Probably putting a real strain on the compressor for a long time.
But it didn't help
But it didn't help
