Be careful what you ask for. Soon enough, the feds will be all up in your place imposing impossible regulations.

They'd have to legalize it first on a federal level. I don't see that happening anytime soon.

No need to have the feds regulating private growing operations. They just need a cheap/efficient way to test the cannabis for toxicity and any additional chemicals, mold, etc upon purchase. I know there are devises to do so, but they are not being utilized.

Yeah I get it. It's a slippery slope is what I mean.

I think it will be sooner than you think. I only say that because legalization seems to be accelerating the last few years. Being in favor of prohibition has become an increasingly toxic position even on the right.

First off. It's not weed not tobacco. 2ndly, we can eat it but not smoke it? lol

Science.

Eating it goes into the stomach where our body can neutralize it or it passes through without effect. When you inhale it there is much less of a filter for your body to stop the pesticide/fungicide/herbicide.

I know we've got a POTUS in office right now that's content to let this go on, but he'll be leaving office pretty soon. What are the folks in Colorado and any other states that have legalized pot going to do if the next POTUS decides they will actually enforce federal law when it comes to pot?

This will be interesting.

Most liberals piss, moan, and roll their eyes when conservatives talk about states' rights. It'll be funny to watch then invoke states' rights when it comes to this.

Well, seeing how the Feds for sure are not going to step in and regulate the safety of pot anytime soon. If say this is a perfect opportunity for some enterprising private sector guy to step in and start up a company that specializes in ensuring the safety of the pot thes stores are selling. They can use it as a marketing tool and tell their customers their product is "ceriified safe and pure". Customers who are concerned with the potential for buying pot that's been treated with harmful chemicals will take their business to the stores that offer "certified safe" product.

I have to imagine these two-bit weed operations are both judgment-proof and uninsured (who would insure a business that's technically illegal under federal law.)

This lawsuit is a publicity stunt.

of course, it's the pesticide that's bad for you, not the dangerous narcotics plant

They already lab test the weed in WA. I'm surprised CO doesn't.

Here's an interview with Gobi Analytical, the lab that tests for pesticides on Colorado marijuana.
Gobi Analytical

A few points:
The highest levels of pesticide were found in Wax. (The contaminants get concentrated as well.)

Growing marijuana indoors seems to let pesticide stay on the plants longer than outdoor growth. A lot of this depends on when they stop using pesticide during the growth cycle.

These pesticides were approved for food, but not tobacco. Consumption of the same wax/MJ in edibles usually wouldn't be an issue. Still, some of the samples they tested exceed the limits for both food and tobacco. (That's why they test them.)

In general, I don't understand why people (especially medical users) think smoking anything would be considered safe. This could easily affect every state that has legalized medical marijuana.
