BATON ROUGE - A train crash stopped traffic near the intersection of Essen and Perkins during the evening rush Tuesday. No one was hurt in the collision, authorities said. But, traffic in the area was impacted. The tracks cross Essen Lane near Perkins and the wreck quickly blocked traffic. Traffic between I-10 and the tracks, headed toward Perkins was stopped. Traffic on the opposite side of the tracks was stopped, too, as cars waited to cross over the tracks toward I-10.

ETA: as of 5:20 still blocking traffic

Just trying to figure out if i need to find a new route home. Can't tell if this is an ongoing issue or if it's been cleared.

Are the tracks clear? I was going to hop on the high speed train there to New Orleans tonight.

It talks about how there "was" traffic. But also doesn't say anything about it being cleared.

Apparently it hit a car.

Damn trains will swerve out in front of you. They need to be more careful how they operate.

Traffic is a disaster. Train was still blocking traffic as of 10 minutes ago. I've been sitting on Picardy trying to cut over to Bluebonnet since that time.

Yeah wife just got called in and said "It looks bad from both sides. Can't see the Perkins crash." Guess she'll be stuck a while.

Will we ever be alive to see Essen become an effective powerhouse of a road?

"In the period 1939 to 1945 the Royal Air Force (RAF) dropped a total of 36,429 long tons of bombs on Essen."

We should call the RAF...

I'm surprised that doesn't happen more often there honestly.
