Is there a state law exception that allows tractors to drive for miles and miles on state highways? I'm not talking from one plot of land down the road a little ways to another plot of land.

Every one knows when the sugar mills start grinding in Louisiana because sugar cane, mud, and slow arse tractors are all over the main roads.

I'm the son of a 3rd generation farmer
I've been married 10 years to the farmer's daughter
I'm a God fearin' hard workin' combine driver
Hoggin' up the road on my p-p-p-p-plower
Chug a lug a luggin' 5 miles an hour
On my International Harvester
Three miles of cars layin' on their horns
Fallin' on deaf ears of corn
Lined up behind me like a big parade
Of late to work road raged jerks
Shoutin' obscene words flippin' me the bird
Well you may be on a state paved road
But that blacktop runs through my payload
Excuse me for tryin' to do my job
But this year ain't been no bumper crop
If you don't like the way I'm a drivin'
Get back on the interstate

Otherwise sit tight and be nice
And quit yer honkin' at me that way

Yes, it says they can do it. It also says that the driver doesn't have to have a drivers license as long as they are over 12 years old.

completely legal.

Except that they are supposed to use the shoulder to prevent restrictions to regular traffic. Also, they are required to have proper hazard warning devices.

I once rode a tractor from Bastrop, LA to Hamburg, AR on 165/425. And perfectly legal.

And I'm not talking about your large combine tractors, I'm talking about paw paw's 50 year old clunker driving to do some bushhogging 15 miles down the road

As long as they have a triangle (slow moving vehicle sign) affixed to the tractor, they are legal on any roadway in the State of Alabama....as they should be...doing the Lord's work feeding the masses

About 15 years ago, the wife was passing a tractor. Well, the tractor took a left turn. The tractor hit the right back panel of her car. Guess what? She was found at fault. Do to NOT blowing her horn to notify the operator of the tractor of passing.

Pure Bull shite that pissed me off to no end.
