4Runners are great though, as long as you are not over 6' tall although I have heard the 2015s have more head room, finally.
I'm 6'1" and have no issues w/ my 2013

Is the muffler behind the axle? If not, I'd just get a turn down and not even bother with a tip.
don't see how a turn down out the back helps. I think you gotta vent it out the side so it doesn't get pulled back in the rear window

Because it wouldn't be exiting directly under the rear window. I have no science to back that up though.

No doubt...

Its my wifes DD, I think she averages 18mpg, but that's mixed town/tollway.

Slightly better than my buddy with his LC, he averages 10mpg. While I realize you don't buy it for the mileage it still stings.

3rd gens like CAD's have the exhaust routed out the side behind the passenger rear tire. You are definitely right about straight back exhaust being a design flaw one the newer ones though.

i had no idea they did this..thats awful.

why would the move the exhaust?

Pros: Incredible resale value, great exterior, lasts for AT LEAST 20 years, reliable and extremely safe.

Cons: Gas mileage (obvious buying any SUV)

Got rid of my 1995 4Runner for a 5th gen and I could not be happier.

My 2000 gets between 19 and 21 mpg and I drive from Walker to downtown BR every day. I think it's about 40+ round trip. For a 15 year old truck with North of 215K miles, I'm extremely pleased. #NoTruckNote

little known fact; on a VIRTUALLY empty tank, I can put in almost 21 gallons of gas in my 1998. people think the tank only holds 17.5 but nope, just gently open the nozzle and ignore the cut-off clicks and you can 'coax' alot more gas into the tank. just takes a few minutes.

also the furthest i've ever driven (and the needle was WAY BELOW the last empty tick) is 400 miles on a single tank.

i routinely get 340 miles out of a tank of gas but i definitely run it until the needle is on the E tick.

one day my luck will probably run out...

eta even though i top off my gas tank (until its in the little gas entry area) and everyone tells me OH YOU ARE RUINING YOUR ENGINE DOING THAT!!! ...340k miles.
