So on pace for 24,000, the good ole God blessed USA had 15,000 itself in 2016. Im not defending Mexico but how many of those were in Narco areas compared to the Mayan Rivera. Parts of Mexico are absolute hell on earth. See the border. But I feel safe going to other tourist areas. Obviously Mexico is Mexico and you cant count on their justice system. But if you go to a resort and control yourself I think any American would be ok.

The scariest thing to me were the stories of incompetence by medical workers and the shakedowns for thousands of dollars in cash for shitty treatment.
And the resorts didn't seem to give a damn, even when people were robbed or raped, they told them to take a cab to the police station if they wanted to complain. Even a resort doctor tried to shake down guests for cash.
I've been a couple times, and I was thinking of going to Isla de Muertes soon, but frick it. If I have a health problem, I dont need a fricking shakedown on top of it.
That whole country needs new management,

Going to a wedding next spring at one of the mentioned resorts. It is a 5 star place and quite pricey so hopefully it was an isolated event.
