Today's Insane Feminist Rant Comes From the Huffington Post!

This Is Not Your Independence Day

It wasn't until 1924 that Native Americans could unilaterally become citizens of the United States and have the voting rights to go with it.

The country that granted those rights gained celebrates Independence for July 4th, 1776.

Someone needs to tell that broad that voting =\= indepedence. The day literally celebrates declaring independence from the British Empire not possessing voting rights.
The feminist movement could really improve its image if every statement made its members didn't sound like it was coming from a 14 year old "C" student.

Crap like this irritates me. If she was alive when voting was not available to women, I could understand this kind of sentiment. It's a big reason I have no issue with George Takei getting mad about the treatment of the Japanese on the west coast during WW2... he was actually in an internment camp.

Why can't people celebrate this country? For all it's faults and failures it is still the best place on this planet to live. Our poor are not poor comparative to the rest if the world. We are lucky. We are the fortunate ones. We live under the Stars and Stripes and for that I am forever thankful.
We are human. We've made mistakes. The rest of the world has made the same mistakes as well.
Look at any other country in the world and show me the same amount of social change in the same time frame (minus revolution/government collapse).
I feel sorry for people like this. They can't see the forrest for the trees. They may never be truly happy here.

Exactly. I actually agree with feminists on a lot of subjects, but horrible reasoning like this just puts the entire movement back 3 pegs.

Clearly everything now is to make a Political point. Its a sign of how bad things are right now, and you see it from both sides. We are so divided, and the committed are coming unglued.
