I have an internship starting this summer and just got the summons in the mail. How do I get out of it?

Say you'd love to go but you'd miss your klan rally.

Go once and just act like you are friends with the defendant. Boom, you don't have to go back.

Hey, retard, you'll get paid for jury duty. That internship? Not so much.

i'm 40 and have never served--I've shown up only once, only to be told they had me down as a nonresident and I was excused. I was happy because I was hungover and had slept about 15 minutes. I was pissed because I would've gone to New Orleans for SUPER BOWL SUNDAY the year we won.
Tips: maintain two residences in different states somehow. I happen to actually do so legitimately. Play them off one another. I've been doing that for ten years. I could've gotten out of the Super Bowl one earlier had I just called to make sure I'd been excused.
eta: I don't feel bad about this from a civic-duty standpoint, because I'm a lawyer and would probably never be picked. I also have some bizarro views--see, PoliBoard.

What 480 said my Father in Laws lawyer told me they don't do shite because there are way to many people who skip jury duty they don't go after you or anything just pretend you didn't receive it.

This. Plus they cannot prove you received it if they just send it in the normal mail and enough suckers show up that its not like they ever face a shortage of jurors.
