thoughts about French settlement area...

saw a house big enough for my family, went and looked at the outside and had a notice dating to July of last year..still for sale but wouldn't pay what they're asking because it's been sitting so long..who knows what's wrong with it..looked nice from outside and nice yard..

wasn't there someone on here that dealt with foreclosure properties?

Which is no problem if you're the right color.

Someone from Prairieville wouldn't fit in there at all.

Town of French Settlement

"Many are not aware that we do not collect sales or property taxes in French Settlement. The only taxes collected are what is known as 'franchise taxes' which comes from cable, utility, insurance etc companies."

Use the money saved on taxes towards your flood insurance that will likely be required. Good proximity to the interstate/ Amite river recreation.

I'd live there in a heartbeat if I worked in BR. Clean, quiet, safe.

re: thoughts about French settlement area...
My in-laws looked at a house there a few years ago...nice house and yard, but while it supposedly didn't flood, areas near it were known to so they worried they wouldn't be able to get onto their street. Find out for sure about the flooding in the area before you buy/rent.

Yeah I suppose it's relative to what you are used to. It's about the same as from Watson/Zachary/Central.

You have to be French to live there.

I have found that the drive goes quick, little traffic unless you get behind a bus and every drives 65 mph...
