Tribal tattoos may appear bad but deep down inside, people think they are bad arse and look good. What's worse than a tribal tattoo is not being able to pull off the tribal tattoo and feel the need to go spend more serious doe to cover up said tribal tattoo out of public embarrassment.

Removing mine was expensive.

But the money I saved when I stopped using hair gel eventually evened it out.

Or maybe not.

I find that it's usually only the asshats that judge other people. If you know your shite and are a respectful employee you usually do pretty well.

I've never had an potential employer say you have to cover up those tattoos, but I imagine if I would have run across that it would have be a good sign that I could find a better place to work.

Have a full sleeve and don't work in a kitchen. Have a real job and don't wear long sleeves

Why even have interviews if we can't judge? The tat is a sign, and it's not a good one.

I love people that are ignorant about tattoos. Are there trashy tattoos?? Absolutely. Are there cliche tattoos?? Absolutely.

However not all tattoos are cliche or trashy. Also a tattoo doesn't disqualify you from a job. I work as a counselor for a private practice, and I have 11, including a full sleeve.

tribal '94 checkin in

Not all decisions in life work out as planned. I have nothing against tattoos and have been looking for several years for something to cover and finish a half sleeve. However the tribal work is dark and thick and would most likely need some initial laser treatment. I have better things to spend money on. It is what is it. At least its not barb wire though. lol

After I got mine I developed the overwhelming urge to start chucking hand crafted spears at my neighbor's pet egyptian mau. Homeowner's association put a notice to vacate soon after. Restraining orders were filed.

I now live in complete isolation outside of Patterson Springs, NC and eat raw meat from dead animals I find laying around in the wild.

this is a very broad and blanket statement that makes you sound like an asshat...

I know a very respected Linux engineer that likely makes a good bit more than you who has a full sleeve...and he wears short sleeves everyday at work...he knows his shite...tattoos don't really matter...it's how you present yourself..i.e. your dress, your communications skills, your job knowledge, your work ethic...real employers understand this...

I have a forearm tat..and I get zero negatives from it...you are dumb

Correct. It is almost expected for baristas, tattoo artists and addiction counselors to have significant "ink" as the kids say.

T
First, there is no such thing as a "Linux engineer", your friend may be a degreed engineer and work as a coder, but more likely he is just a IT person that works with the Linux platform. Your friend has a job, but how many opportunities is he now locked out from because of his tattoos? There are hundreds of major corporations where he will never get to even cast a shadow in the doorway because of the decision he made.

You don't know that you have gotten zero negatives from your Tattoos, it is not like people are going to tell you. In my lifetime I have not hired many people just because their appearance indicated they would not be a good fit for our organization, but all they heard was sorry you don't have the type of experience we are looking for.

I'm also getting mine removed. But I don't have to pay as much because mine doesn't go all the way around my arm; so it's going to be a little cheaper

he is a Linux specialist...a guru if you will...and he makes fat money at a pretty prestige corporation so...I'm still going to have to say you are wrong...I deal with customers and represent my company everyday...and they have zero problem with my tattoo...because I produce results that they pay me for...I always interview in a suit or long sleeves so no employer has ever seen my forearm tat before deciding to offer me or not..so once again you are wrong...and dumb for your blanket comments...sorry not sorry

ETA: that was his title at the company we worked for...Linux Engineer......all I knew is the guy knew his shite..and was highly rewarded for his knowledge and capabilities....full sleeve and all....

Oh you can judge.

If a well qualified person comes in and everything looks good but you don't offer the job to them because you ain't hiring nobody with them there tattoos. Then you're an asshat.

Much in the same way as you are an asshat if you ain't hiring no negro, or woman. even though they are well qualified.

That makes you an asshat. Only real difference is the negro or woman can sue your arse off, but I imagine soon lots of other forms of discrimination will be not tolerated. Gays and Trans people are up now, but our time is coming. You bigots can't keep your foot on us forever.

Both arms sleeved. Wear short sleeves to work everyday.....Work in a hospital.

I think tattoos can drastically reduce your earning potential in the south but it has no bearing here.
