It's a day now where the special snowflakes on social media cry about how we "went too far" and we owe apologies to Japan.

We were surprise attacked by the Japanese and thousands of people died, forcing our hand to take action in WWII. I'm all for remembering those who died and I think doing so is important....but what exactly made it a "great day"?

Seems like a pretty shitty day to me.

You called it a proud day.

It certainly wasn't that.

I firmly believe that both FDR and Churchill knew that attack was coming.

I don't think Churchill knew but I'm quite certain FDR at the very least knew before poor Admiral Kimmel.

My fault. You called it a "proud day."

So what makes it a proud day?

the crew that flew the unarmed plane to go look for the Japanese fleet were some brave frickers! Wonder if that would happen these days?

It happened on 9/11:

LINK

quote:

Late in the morning of the Tuesday that changed everything, Lt. Heather “Lucky” Penney was on a runway at Andrews Air Force Base and ready to fly. She had her hand on the throttle of an F-16 and she had her orders: Bring down United Airlines Flight 93. The day’s fourth hijacked airliner seemed to be hurtling toward Washington. Penney, one of the first two combat pilots in the air that morning, was told to stop it.

The one thing she didn’t have as she roared into the crystalline sky was live ammunition. Or missiles. Or anything at all to throw at a hostile aircraft.
