Look into iLasik. It’s a more custom laser procedure that is totally hands free as compared to older gen lasik procedures. I had it done two weeks ago. It’s a little more expensive, but worth every penny imo. In the past, things like astigmatism could cause u to not be a candidate. Not necessarily true any more. A little research will show you how far they’ve come just in the last ten years. The procedure itself was less than 20 min. with about a 4 hour recovery time. No pain at all. I was -4.75 contact prescription and now I’m 20/15 in both eyes. If you can afford it. Do it.

I had to get PRK as opposed to LASIK because my corneas were too thin. Procedure was this past April and I don’t have any regrets. Only thing was the recovery time was months instead of days to weeks.

Is that too weak for the procedure?

Best money I have ever spent. I did it in 08, and I still don't wear any glasses. I am in my mid 40's. Would do it again in a heartbeat.

I got mine done in 2001. I recommend that you study up on the problems people have. It can give you chronic dry eye problems, light sensitivity, and there are other issues. I have some light sensitivity, so I wear sunglasses, but I'd probably do that anyway. It can lead to an earlier onset of presbyopia, it can be immediate, decreasing your ability to focus near as it did for me. I'd still recommend it if you can live with a few inconveniences that all together are far better than dealing with contact lenses.

100% true you will regret not doing it sooner

Worst part was the drops you have to use afterwards

95% of the posts in these threads are usually about how it changed people's lives for the better. I agree with most of that, but it did frick with my contrast sensitivity. I pretty much have to have sunglasses on a bright day, yet my vision is slightly worse than before in a dark area, like a dimly lit restaurant.

Have heard this several times. Seems like a deal breaker to me.

That's why I don't do it. I'd rather just wear glasses when I need them (for driving), instead of risking unpleasant side effects.

Has mine done at age 49.

I'm glad I did it, but my initial experience wasn't a pleasant one. The laser incisions on both corneas went flawlessly, but 10 seconds into the first corrective procedure on the right eye the computer controlling the laser went blue screen of death. Ended up being sent home with bandages on both eyes and a lot of painkillers while they rushed a new unit up from Orlando. They did the left eye later that night, but I had to wait a month for the right eye to heal for them to re-do it.

One phrase you never want hear coming from your Lasik surgeon: "I've done 20,000 of these surgeries, and that's the first time that's EVER happened!"

Has anyone done this in Houston? Joffe has a 5.0 rating on Google with 600+ reviews. It almost seems too good to be true.

I did PRK a couple years ago. Life is great.

Recovery was a little painful, and vision was kind of up and down for a couple months. The worst was never bad enough to hold me back. Just didn't have great clarity all the time. Driving at night was not great for a couple months but I didn't feel unsafe. Just had to pay close attention.

Not having to worry about contacts is fricking great.

The procedure is kind of wild when you realize... "Hey that guy just opened my eyeball up shot it with a laser and closed it again while we are talking LSU football"

I had no pain at all. Had it done Friday morning and went to the movies on Sat morning after my post op.

Worst part was wearing the goggles to sleep for the first 4 or 5 nights.

I had some dry eye issues but Restasis and regular lubricating drops have cleared that up.

I did get the right eye redone because it was a hair off. Apparently that happens to about 10% of people, having to get an enhancement.

I am 20/15 now.

I had been wearing glasses for 30 yrs.

That first morning when I took the goggles off and went in the bathroom and could read the small letters on the toothpaste tube laying there was a real "holy shite" moment.
