Just booked a week on the beach at Kitty Hawk for late June. Will be our first trip there and looking for recommendations on things to do, places to eat, etc.

No kids, just adults. I think right now the only two things on the list are the Wright Bros. memorial and Hatteras Light.

Take the ferry to Ocracoke Island and drink and fish. That place is awesome (ok not awesome but cool), assuming it hasn't been destroyed by a hurricane recently.

ETA I think kiteboarding and dune riding are huge out there.

If yaw a Gloucester man, go get the sword fish. Watch out for a hurricane hitting an arctic storm slamming into a low front pushing of the east coast.

Carolina BBQ. If Bubba's is still out on Hatteras Island it's as good a place as any to eat at.

Never understood why people book a vacation before researching what they can do there first.

It's the first thing I do. Although I did spend eight days in Ambergris Caye last summer in the middle of the rainy season there. Always, always check the weather patterns for the time that you'll be traveling.

But dammit, I knew what there was to do there.

Places to eat: Outer Banks Brewing Station

You can surf fish for your dinner like I did one day. Caught enough croaker on my last trip for dinner for my daughter and I and also lunch the next day.

You can also go north on 12 to Corolla and Duck..there is a nice place in Duck but I can't remember the name.

I cannot vouch for this place, but want to go on my next visit..Weeping Radish. It's run by a German and they specialize in sausage and beer.

It's not on the Outer Banks but not a long drive

Book an offshore trip.

Tuna, Mahi, and Wahoo are running up there right now through summer. By June the Marlin will be there as well.

We have looked at a lot of the things that can be done there and have a rough list. Besides Wright Bros and Hatteras we have talked about going north of Corolla to see if we can find horses, enjoying the scenery of Hatteras Nat'l Seashore, etc.

But just thought I would check on here to see if anyone had any hidden gems or "stay away from that" observations.

Some interesting things mentioned in the thread, we will look into them.

Make sure to visit the Blue Moon Beach Grill - order the wings!

https://bluemoonbeachgrill.com/

Walk to the top of Jockeys Ridge.

Booking a good fishing charter is good times. I recommend DOA Charters or Fly Girl. They both dock at Oregon Inlet.

Go visit Manteo one day. Cool little town and Ortegaz was featured on Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives. https://www.ortegaz.com/
