What's the bar scene like in Houston on NYE?

Do bars sell tickets like in other cities or does everyone barhop like normal? Seems like it would be too packed to barhop

They have a collection of crowded bars, overpriced drinks, lonely fat chicks, and a disappointing start to the new year

Same as every city

Stay in and grill a nice steak. NYE in Houston sounds like aids.

NYE in any major city is trashy. Enjoy spending way too much money for 90 seconds of fun.

What you want to do is have the party start at your house or friends and have the option to go to a local bar later on that night. Some years I just want to go home while other times I want to party and pick up some arse.

ETA: Bringing in the year with a new lady is underrated.

I have not been in Houston on NYE...however, it is one of the biggest cities in the country, so I am sure you can pretty much find any type of scene that you are interested in.

also, NYE is a high dollar affair for bars, so I am betting you have to pay a hefty cover anywhere that you go....not much running from bar to bar as we do on normal nights.

I went to the Rice Hotel party downtown a couple times back in '05-'06 and it was a good time. Not sure if they still do it or not.

Houston is a pretty miserable city. But it's better than New Orleans. Would be better to travel and go to San Antonio.
