Is the Double Tree Campbell Center decent to stay at?

Only things I could find to do were the zombie escape, Alamo Drafthouse, and half-priced Bookstore.

Any other ideas?

The Colonial Golf Tournament is in Fort Worth Memorial Day weekend & the Byron Nelson is in Las Colinas the weekend after. Both are a good time. Cougar central.

I typically stay at the Hilton at Linclon center (tollway and 635)...it is a nice place located just across 635 from the galleria. I can get you shockingly good rates there on weekends...

An in-law already booked us at the Doubletree. Thanks, though.

A lot of people leave town for the weekend. Usually pretty dead, but I like it as you can go to most restaurants and just walk in with no wait.
If you are a runner I would suggest white rock lake. The water is high so the falls are running. Not far from where you are staying.
You will be near North Park Mall. I have been told it is the best mall in town though that is not my thing.
Greenville ave south of mockingbird has just about any type of food you would ever want and most locations have outdoor patios which makes for good people watching. Sat or Sunday afternoon would be sweet.

Many options but you should have posted this a month ago before daddy made arrangements. MD is lake time. Rentals at JPL, Grapevine, Possum Kingdom, Eagle Mountain. Texoma and such. Each have boat and pontoon rentals as well.

I wouldn't, that's an amateur day, plus, even with all of the rain, deep water is sketchy in some of those lakes

I get that but through VRBO, 75% of the great weekend is in the location and rental. No hotel. Sure, Channel 5 will report a drowning or 4 but those are mainly segregated to the "sandy beaches" and folks cooking hotdogs on the bank while ignoring Ignacio and his 7 kids.

You just have to hope Dennis Rodman isn't on the lake in a speedboat...

most if not all of the booze rules on Grapevine were the result of one guy in our old lake trash group, he was hauled off a few times, convicted of nothing, his fault was a big Canadian mouth
