quote:

ALS to me is worse on the person who has it Dementia is worse on the family. :(

I understand what your saying... But ALS is pretty bad on the family as well... Especially when it gets to the stage that Steve Gleason is in... Lots of 24 hour care, lots of $$...

Part of my daily prayer is for scientists, Dr's, everyone working on cures to have a breakthrough in developing something for all the horrible diseases out there.

Thank you everyone for your kind words. My family is currently dealing with it with my grandmother. She's someone I spent countless hours and days with growing up, so it's just hard to witness, like it is for everyone who is touched by it. The decline has become faster and more noticible over the last year or so, and with it being Mother's Day, it just kind of hits me.

My prayers are with everyone touched by this terrible disease.

Yes, diseases like ALS are equally horrible. I could have worded my post better, as to not make it sound like one is worse than the other. I pray one day that all of these awful diseases are gone.

As someone who is a Christian, I always try to take comfort in knowing that there will come a time where disease will be no more. It is also important to reach out to people who are dealing with similar things, it really helps you to figure out what you're doing when trying to care for someone who has one of these diseases.

Sad and depressing definitely describes my drive through St. Amant today. So much devastation.

my grandmother was the coolest cat you'd ever want to meet
strong, smart, smooth

watching her turn into an infant was sad at first but as it went on and on it just became demoralizing. If there was ever one person in this world who 100% would have chosen not to live her last years like that it was her

it's not going to happen to me because I won't allow it
